Salary will be determined by a combination of skills, experience, knowledge and performance.

Position Overview:
Elevation Technical Services is seeking a Communications and Engagement Coordinator to support public, Indigenous, and stakeholder engagement for transportation and infrastructure projects across the region. This role will be pivotal in translating complex technical information into clear, accessible communication to ensure meaningful community feedback. You will work closely with project teams to help shape communications strategies and engagement plans that resonate with diverse audiences and support the successful delivery of projects that meet both technical and societal expectations.

In this role, your ability to foster connections and navigate challenging conversations will be essential as you build trust and engage with stakeholders in the transportation, civil, and infrastructure sectors. Your contributions will be key in helping Elevation maintain its reputation for transparency, integrity, and commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Your Role at Elevation Technical Services:

  • Engagement Planning: Develop and implement communications strategies tailored to diverse stakeholders. You will also prepare budget estimates and set measurable objectives for success.
  • Content Development: Create engaging communication materials for public consultations, project updates, and key stakeholder meetings. You will work with both internal teams and external partners to ensure all materials are produced efficiently and on budget.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate and facilitate engagement efforts, including meetings, presentations, and community events, that support transparency and foster collaborative relationships with all interested parties, including Indigenous communities.
  • Project Management: Oversee the execution of communication and engagement plans, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budgets while maintaining high standards of quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strategic Advice: Provide communications and engagement guidance to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with project objectives, values, and the broader mission of Elevation Technical Services.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Prepare reports to document engagement outcomes, project impacts, and recommendations for future improvements. You will also evaluate the success of engagement initiatives to guide continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Formal education in communications, public relations, business, or a related field. Demonstrated engagement or communications experience within the natural resource, infrastructure or construction sectors. A minimum equivalent of four years full-time combined related education and experience.

Knowledge: In-depth understanding of engagement techniques, public consultation processes, and stakeholder management within the context of large infrastructure projects. A background in technical consulting or civil projects is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into accessible plain language formats.  
  • Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects while ensuring timely delivery.
  • Ability to develop budgets, manage resources, and track financial expenditures for communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Experience with developing and managing communications plans for diverse and complex audiences, particularly in the public sector or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with communication tools, including digital platforms, presentation software, and media outreach.

In addition to the qualifications and experience noted above, preference may also be given to someone who has the following:

  • Familiarity with transportation, infrastructure or construction projects
  • International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certification
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in B.C.  
  • Experience with social media marketing
  • Specific writing experience: Proposals, regulatory report writing, annual reports
