This month, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on Ali Washington! Ali is relatively new to Elevation, having joined our team in late 2023.  

He brings over thirteen years of hands-on experience in construction supervision, urban planning, and wastewater management. With a commitment to excellence in quality control, site safety, and regulatory enforcement, Ali specializes in construction supervision of roads and bridges. His work experience includes six years as a Senior Engineer and Project Manager with the Rwanda Transport Development Agency. Ali and his family arrived in Kelowna in 2022, and his wife is currently completing a PhD in Civil Engineering at UBCO.

Upon joining Elevation, Ali immediately began working on the Summerland Rockslide Rehabilitation project. He was drawn to Elevation's supportive work culture and the opportunities for growth that align with his career aspirations. We asked Ali to share some of his recent experiences and what he’s most passionate about in his career. He told us, “The landslide removal work at the Summerland rockslide presents unique challenges that require innovative solutions. Having this opportunity to contribute to a project aimed at restoring ecosystems and minimizing environmental impact is a rewarding experience. What I enjoy most about my profession is the impact it has on society. Whether it’s a bridge that stands the test of time or a sustainable water treatment system that benefits future generations, knowing that we contribute to enhancing the quality of life for others is incredibly gratifying.”
